The Game Changers project refining optical techniques for the remote detection of hydrogen has moved into an exciting new phase.

The Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics (FCAP) has been involved with Game Changers since 2017 during which time it has developed an initial concept for the long range detection of hydrogen (>40m) into a proven technique.  The Glasgow-based company is now about to demonstrate the latest developments of their technology which can also be used for detecting hydrogen at short distances (<2m).

The success of this ongoing project demonstrates the flexibility of the Game Changers programme in supporting Sellafield’s desire to embrace innovation to overcome their decommissioning challenges.
