Sheffield-based engineering consultancy Eadon Consulting has been awarded significant Game Changers funding for further development of its REACH remote handling system. The innovative modular technology has been designed for long range mapping, data collection and tool deployment in harsh environments.
The funding, which will be provided over a two year period, will allow Eadon Consulting to conduct a non-active demonstration of the REACH platform. This trial will provide valuable data and insights to further enhance the technology and prepare it for active deployment.
"We are delighted to have been awarded this funding for the continued development of our REACH platform," said James Hill, Technical Director at Eadon Consulting. "This is a significant step forward for us and demonstrates the potential of our technology to transform the deployment of equipment in areas which are hard to reach and hazardous."
Eadon Consulting is a leading engineering consultancy firm that specialises in the design of complex and innovative solutions. The company has a proven track record of delivering successful projects across a range of industries, including offshore, civil engineering, energy and nuclear.
The REACH platform is highly modular, enabling it to be easily adapted to suit the specific needs of different applications. Its high payload capacity and long-range deployment capabilities make it ideal for a wide range of uses, and the flexible system can be deployed horizontally and vertically.
Dr Josephine Tunney, Game Changers Programme Manager said: "We believe that the REACH platform has the potential to significantly improve the efficiency and safety of deployment operations across a range of industries. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Eadon Consulting during the next phase of development of REACH and ultimately seeing the technology used actively on the Sellafield site."
